Trenchless technology has become an effective and economical alternative to open-cut construction. The public will no longer stand for the disruption and costly restorations caused by open-cut when it is unnecessary with trenchless installation. D.H. Akkerman designed and built his first boring head and pipejacking system in 1973 to install 36" diameter concrete pipe on a highway crossing. From this early beginning, we have provided dependable equipment for hundreds of projects with crossing and complete line installations.
With the introduction of our Microtunneling, Guided Boring and Earth Pressure Balance machines, we have expanded the range of sizes and ground conditions in which our systems work. We have incorporated the latest technology to meet the demands of this growing segment of the trenchless industry. Akkerman systems are designed to achieve high production, from start to finish, in a wide range of soil conditions. Our systems are used to install jacking pipe such as RCP, FRP or steel casing and tunnel liner. Safety has always been a top priority in the design of our equipment. We support our equipment with a team of experienced engineers, knowledgeable field technicians, and a large parts department, all dedicated to customer service. In addition to our standard line of equipment, we have the capability to design and build equipment for unique project requirements.
