Pipe Jacking alignment accuracy is managed by assessing a laser target bolt’s position on the cutter head, at the centerline of the pipe. The laser is initiated from the pipe laser in the Laser Light Stand behind the jacking frame or pump unit in the launch shaft.

To check the alignment between haul unit transport cycles, the TBM or EBS operator lowers the conveyor to expose the target bolt laser beam. Frequent laser checks will result in fewer steering adjustments. Note, TBM and EBS roll is adjusted by engaging the torque/dirt wings.

The Laser Light Stand features an adjustable frame to position the laser down the centerline of the pipe. The laser box assembly is lockable to prevent tampering with the laser when not in operation.

Akkerman inventories a GEO VL‐70/‐80 Automatic Drifting Laser for our customers’ convenience, suitable for extended length straight tunnels, depending on the tunnel’s ambient conditions.

For proper laser system operation and installation, please refer to the manufacturer’s recommendations.

Features:
  • Adjustable Laser Light Stand assembly includes a laser box and stakes to position the laser sight down the tunnel’s centerline for review by the TBM/EBS operator
  • Assembly contains a laser, positioning device, battery connector, and transport case
