Conventional Tunneling Boring Machine (TBM)
Pipejacking Systems are used to hydraulically install underground pipelines within strict alignment and grade tolerances where personnel-entry (i.e. operator located inside the boring machine and/or on the haul cart) is permissible. Akkerman manufactures TBMs for installation of pipe in the 44 "-168" OD range.

Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM)
Akkerman offers various types of TBMs to complement our TBM systems. These range in size from 44” – 168” O.D. Wheel and excavator TBMs are available based on size and ground conditions. Wheel machine are equipped with dirt and carbide cutter heads and sand shelves. A closed face attachment is available for boring in unstable ground conditions. |

5000 Series Jacking System
The 5000 series system contains a hydraulic power unit, skid base sections and a thrust yoke to evenly distribute the jacking forces to the pipe string. This versatile system easily adapts to any jacking pipe in any pipe joint length and a wide range of pipe diameters. |
 |
P400 and P600 Power Packs
Akkerman remote pedant controlled electric power packs in two and three bay models. These power packs are typically matched to jacking systems designed for small pit sizes or high capacity, multiple cylinder jacking systems. P400 and P600 series power packs have 400 or 600 gallon hydraulic reservoirs and interchangeable pump/motor modules which can easily be configured to the demands of the project. High and low pressure systems are available. |

|
Telescopic Cylinder Jacking System
The multi-cylinder jacking system increases jacking thrust for pipe 42" O.D. or larger. The number of cylinders and total thrust in the system is determined by project requirements, contractor preferences and the safe load capacity of the jacking pipe. |

Conveyors
Belt and screw conveyors transport spoils from the TBM face to the haul bucket for removal on the haul cart. Conveyors are offered in several sizes to maximize the performance for each size boring head. A belt conveyor performs best in the majority of soil conditions. A screw conveyor performs best in sticky or sloppy ground conditions. |

|
Dirt Buckets / Haul Units
Akkerman haul systems are comprised of a haul unit, track and dirt bucket(s). The haul units are electrically powered with removable battery packs and are equipped with electric or hydraulic disk brakes. |
 |
Bentonite Pumps
Bentonite pumps deposit bentonite lubricant around the outside of the pipes to effectively reduce the friction between the jacking pipe and the soil that surrounds it. |
 |
SP400 Jacking System
The SP400 system jacks pipe in deep or confined areas where short jacking shafts are highly advantageous. |
