Earth Pressure Balance Machines (EPBM) EPBMs are used for high powered pipe jacking with precise control of earth pressure via operator control of the cutterhead with pressure sensors, jacking speed, screw conveyor operation and foam and bentonite slurry additive system for conditioning of spoils. Akkerman manufactures EPBMs for installation of pipe in the 96"-168" OD range.
