Machinist – Night Shift

Akkerman Inc. is currently seeking to add an exceptional NIGHT SHIFT MACHINIST to its team of outstanding employees.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
  • Be able to start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjust machine controls as required.
  • Must be able to select, align, and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines such as mills, lathes, grinders, and shapers.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Display the ability to identify and resolve problems and be able to implement effective improvements.
  • Perform first piece part inspections.
  • Use manual inspection gauges and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine control media.
  • PC Dmis experience is a plus, but not required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years of CNC lathe Machinist experience
  • Self-motivated and the ability to work well with others
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Reliable, conscientious, and dedicated team contributor
  • Possess a positive, can-do attitude to solve problems and embrace challenges
  • A detail-oriented perfectionist who adheres to the philosophy of doing things right the first time

Night Shift operates three nights per week from 4:30PM to 5:00AM and includes shift differential pay. Machinist – Day Shift

Akkerman Inc. is currently seeking to add an exceptional DAY SHIFT MACHINIST to its team of outstanding employees.

Day shift employees work from 6:30AM to 5PM Monday through Thursday, with Friday being open for possible overtime. Welder – Night Shift

Welding applicants must have a minimum of two years of relevant experience or education. Candidates should have experience in fabrication, torch, plasma cut, and MIG and stick welding. Akkerman welders fabricate a variety of low-volume, highly differentiated heavy weldments. All applicants should possess excellent communication skills, be conscientious, quality and detail-oriented, focused on safety and possess a positive, team-oriented attitude. Individuals should be able to read design prints, be good problem solvers and embrace challenges. The night shift runs from 4:30 PM to 5 AM, Monday through Wednesday nights, with Thursday designated for overtime as needed. A night shift wage premium applies.
