Akkerman Shines at NUCA 2025 Convention – Congratulations to Jason Holden!

Akkerman was proud to attend the 2025 NUCA National Convention, held March 18–21 at the beautiful Grand Cypress in Orlando, Florida. The annual event brought together leaders and innovators across the utility construction industry for several days of education, networking, and celebration.

The week was filled with valuable insights and conversations, including sessions on workforce development, AI in construction, supply chain strategies, and more. Attendees were inspired by keynote speaker Jason Redman, a decorated Navy SEAL and leadership expert, who spoke about resilience and overcoming adversity with purpose.

A highlight of the convention was the awards banquet, where we had the distinct honor of celebrating Jason Holden, Akkerman Vice President, as he was named NUCA’s Associate Member of the Year. This prestigious award recognizes individuals who have made exceptional contributions to both the industry and the association at the national level. Jason’s commitment to NUCA spans nearly a decade, with leadership roles on the NUCA Board of Directors, Trenchless Technology Committee, Workforce Development Committee, and more. His tireless dedication and advocacy for trenchless innovation make this award well-deserved.

The Akkerman team, including Justin Akkerman, Jay Zimmerman, and Derek Akkerman, was proud to be on-site to support Jason and participate in the week’s events. We also enjoyed connecting with industry peers during the National Partners networking event and celebrated another successful year with a lively Wild Wild West-themed closing night. Akkerman contributed to the evening’s record-breaking fundraising auction by donating two 3D models—each raising $10,000—as well as Vikings game tickets. Congratulations to Jason Clark of Iowa Trenchless and Jason Miller of Midwest Mole for winning the auction items, and thanks to all who helped support NUCA’s ongoing initiatives.

From thought-provoking sessions to unforgettable celebrations, NUCA 2025 showcased the strength and spirit of our industry—and we were proud to be part of it.

Akkerman Highlights Innovation and Engagement at No-Dig 2025

Akkerman was proud to participate in the 2025 No-Dig Show, hosted at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver from March 30 to April 2. As the premier trenchless technology conference, the event gathered industry leaders and professionals from around the globe to explore the latest advancements in underground construction.

Our entire sales team was in attendance, engaging with attendees, partners, and peers throughout the multi-day event. Ahead of the show, Akkerman partnered with Kilduff as a sponsor of a lively pre-event mixer hosted by BT at 54Thirty Rooftop—an ideal setting to kick off the week with great conversation and scenic views of downtown Denver.

One of the highlights of the show was the Akkerman Tunnel Boring Machine (TBM) model, which was auctioned off during the event. This particular model was signed by Maynard Akkerman and proudly displayed at our booth, drawing enthusiastic attention. Congratulations to Luke Minger of Minger Construction on winning the auction item!

We also want to shine a light on Matt Kressin, our newest sales team member, who has been instrumental in bringing our 3D printed equipment models to life. At No-Dig, these models were more than just visual aids—they became powerful tools for education and engagement. With so much of our technology operating underground and out of sight, these models allowed attendees to better understand the precision and innovation behind our equipment.

The No-Dig Show continues to be an important platform for advancing trenchless solutions and industry collaboration, and we’re grateful to be part of the conversation. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to connect, ask questions, and help move trenchless technology forward.
