Keep Your Pumps Running: Why Oil Quality Matters
Maintaining oil quality in your 5200 pump units is critical for system performance and longevity. These units operate with an open hydraulic system, which means contamination—including water—can enter when adding tunnel oil lines. Water intrusion is a leading cause of premature pump failure.
What can you do to prevent this?
- Take regular oil samples to monitor oil condition and detect contamination early.
- Check the oil tank for water daily. There is a drain at the bottom of the tank—use it to remove any condensation that may have accumulated overnight.
- Sample first thing in the morning before startup. This simple step helps prevent water-related issues before they impact your equipment.
Recent root cause analyses have shown that water contamination was the primary factor in several pump failures. By implementing routine oil sampling and drainage checks, you can protect your investment and avoid costly downtime.
Remember: Consistent oil quality checks are key to preventing premature component wear and ensuring reliable operation.
