Rock Drilling
The Rock Drill Adapter (RDA) allows Akkerman pilot tube systems to accurately drill in rock formations using TriHawk® steering head technology that is commercially available. The RDA is designed to use Akkerman’s existing GBM guidance system or the contractor can choose to operate with a Sonde housing for extreme conditions.
FEATURES:
- The Rock Drill Adapter uses a bolt‑less square drive spline compatible with TriHawk® I, III, IV, and V steering heads.
- Suitable for densely compacted soils, soft rock, claystone, stone, limestone, and shale.
- Cuts a small annulus around pilot tubes, requiring minimal lubricant flushing compatible with Akkerman pumps.
- Easily adapted to all Akkerman GBM systems regardless of manufacture date.
- Low thrust pressures required; new Akkerman GBM systems include an RDA jacking pressure control assembly for smooth operation.

Testimonials
In the trenchless world there are two things extremely important when selecting an equipment manufacturer to work with. Many companies will have one, but only the best have both. I’m specifically talking about experienced, knowledgeable employees and then equipment that can do what they say it will. At Akkerman you get both.
